Ayurveda teaches the health science through a lot of symbols, stories, evidences, principles, riddles and so on.
One of those riddles is the concept of lord Dhanwantari. Literally the word stands for stress (dhanu) buster (antari)!
Dhanu stands for a stick that is bent - put under tension / stress. It means, most health conditions stem from stress or tension. Then it affects our lifestyle, digestion, metabolism and finally the cell functions.
Removing or distancing this stress is the science of healing.
Ayurveda also explains the methodology via the four symbols on Lord Dhanwantari.
He holds four things in his arms indicating. These four are summarised as the victory (Shankham) through renewal (amruta) of the body by removing the toxicity (jaluka) through applied knowledge of right and wrong (chakrm).
Both Ayurveda and our modern science accepts that inflammation, the basic nature of the disease or body's attempt to heal it self begins with an attack on the toxin.
Its interesting that our modern research is slowly accepting the concept that stress is behind almost all diseases!
