Most people compare the symptom-masking effect of chemical medicine against pathology-removing approach of Ayurveda. That is like measuring distance in volume! We never get it right. But, it becomes a great topic for eternal brainless argument.
Most people compare the disease-management style of chemical medicine against disease removing approach of Ayurveda. This is like gravity by horse power. Never get it right. And, becomes another pointless argy-bargy. Of course, in disease-management culture 'cure' is a cursed word. No one utters that.
Lets look at the soul of a disease. And, take inflammation as the general unit of disease. Inflammation is fundamentally a protective and defensive response to toxins (pathogen) from our body's immune system. It usually generates uncomfortable signs and symptoms such as pain, redness and swelling.
According to RxListnon steroidal anti inflammatories work by reducing the production of prostaglandins that are chemicals that promote inflammation... This means NSAIDs blocks body's attempt to burn the toxins. This will result in letting the toxins stay in the body! Great band-aid attempt.
The actual healing is working on the removal of toxins and repairing any damage, so that inflammatory environment is flushed from the body. This what Ayurveda does.
For a quick example, an arthritic patient receives pain killers and NSAIDs as the chemical aids. No toxins are flushed. And sadly, they are left in the body, making the disease possibly long lasting and help generate other local inflammations such as dermatitis and bursitis.
Ayurveda dissolves the toxins including uric acid and flush it, resulting in disease-free and symptom-free state.
